Fun Friday

Don’t forget the Leprechauns!!!

So recently on This Morning we came across a story on the Leprechaun whisperer, apparently the Leprechaun community has been affected by lockdown and the current pandemic. Kevin Wood (the Leprechaun whisperer) explained to Eamon and Ruth that there are 236 left and he is committed to protect them all. I mean are these real creatures? we always assumed they were kinda mystical things like unicorns, we have so many unknown questions to this topic that we decided to dive into some research to find out about the crazy, unique world of the green clothed, bearded creatures.

So, what are they?

  • Leprechauns are small, green creatures in green suits with hats and buckled shoes.
  • According to Irish legends if you happen to come across one, it will trade you three wishes to barter his freedom.
  • They are shoe makers who store all the gold coins that they earn in a hidden pot at the end of a rainbow.
  • They are mischievous and enjoy playing tricks.

ARE THEY REAL?

I guess this just depends on your beliefs.. Kevin Wood explained on his interview that they were spirits and he communicated with them through an out of body experience called shanamism & he previously expressed his concern that Brexit is threatening to seal of a underground secret tunnel that allows the magical creatures to travel from northern Ireland and the Republic SO I guess Kevin believes in them but for the majority of people they are simply just fun fictional characters who are celebrated on St Patricks Day.

However IF they are real and you ever come across one, please hit me up as I reckon they will be a perfect match for Bekie. A little bearded man with a great sense of humour and has a hidden pot of gold? COULDN’T THINK OF ANYTHING MORE PERFECT😂...

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL BISCUIT DAY!

DID YOU KNOW?

Pringles are actually more biscuit than crisps?! This is because they’re made up of only 44% potatoes making them more off a biscuit or a cake than a potato crisp product. I know, we’re mind blown too… we’ve been lied to our whole life. I’m not going to lie though, I would be pretty gutted if someone said they’re bringing me a cake round and it was a tube of Pringles, and I think Samie would full on cry (she loooves cake). Full article by The LadBible can be found here!

Pretty sure international biscuit day is probably our brother Warners favourite day of the year … he LOVES his biscuits. When he was 18 and we all lived together he’d have his own biscuit tin, and he’d go to the corner shop where he could buy a huge bag of mixed biscuits super cheap because they were the unperfected ones – honestly he’d get so excited over this. It was a true act of kindness if we were allowed one from his tin.

I asked Warner, as a biscuit enthusiast for a quote on Pringles being in fact biscuits and this is what he wanted to say on the matter:

“I refuse to believe Pringles are biscuits!!” Thanks for that insight bro !

MORE FUN BISCUIT FACTS

In 2001 a biscuit that was taken from the Titanic before she struck the iceberg and fell to her doom at the bottom of the ocean which made £3,525 at an auction in London. I have so many more questions on this … surely it would be mouldy, what can you do with a biscuit that old?

Over in the States their biscuits are different to ours, if you order a biscuit over there you’ll get a ‘quick bread’ which is more of a scone – I guess this make sense as to why Samuel Johnson (the English writer) once defined a biscuit as a “kind of hard dry bread, made to be carried to sea.” He must have been munching on the American style of biscuits ?

A survey conducted for National Biscuit day a couple of years back revealed that a strong 83% of people would rather eat a biscuit than go on a date. I can honestly say I’m amongst them on that one!!

(More biscuit facts can be found here and here for those enthusiast like Warner).

Our favourites are:
Samie – The ginger crunch ones

Bekie – chocolate digestives with caramel in … “mmmmmmm”

Also I do love mums homemade lemon ones !
